A clay button is such a simple thing to make and can be just the finishing touch needed on a scarf, felted handbag or hand woven bead bracelet. Buttons can have visual holes or added glue-on stem backs for attaching to your project. They can be finished with underglazes, terra sigillata, glaze or simply Gilders Paste in order to complement the piece to which they are being attached. I like to have a sturdy button so my choice is usually to make them with stoneware clay.

Bone dry stoneware buttons some with apparent attaching holes, others made for glue on attaching backs.
